Our standards
This page exists so you can judge whether to trust what you read here. It describes what this site actually does, not what would sound most impressive.
Who writes it
Every article is written by Jaime Jorques Moratalla, working alone. He is an independent researcher, not a licensed HVAC professional. Nothing here has been reviewed by a trade-licensed technician, and no article claims otherwise.
That is stated plainly because the alternative — implying a professional sign-off that did not happen — would be worth less than nothing on a site about electrical work and five-figure purchases.
Sourcing
Technical claims are checked against manufacturer installation manuals, published capacity tables and industry standards. Every article carries a Sources section listing the primary references it draws on, linked directly, so any figure can be traced back to the body that published it: the AHRI Directory, ENERGY STAR, the IRS, DSIRE, ACCA and manufacturers’ own service documentation.
Where a number is an estimate or a range drawn from published contractor pricing rather than a measurement, it is labelled as such rather than presented as data.
Safety boundaries
Diagnostic steps are ordered by how often each cause turns out to be the answer, so the common ones come first. Where a task is not a homeowner job, it is named as technician work rather than left vague. Anything involving refrigerant requires an EPA Section 608 certified technician by law.
Updates
Cost pages are reviewed at least twice a year. Rebate and incentive pages are reviewed whenever a programme changes. Each article shows the date it was last updated in its header.
Independence
This site does not sell, install or service equipment. No manufacturer pays for coverage, placement or wording. There are no affiliate links. The site carries display advertising, which is disclosed in the privacy policy and has no influence on editorial conclusions.
Limits
Nothing here is a substitute for a site visit by a licensed professional. If an article and a technician standing in your house disagree, believe the technician — and then tell us, because we would like to know what we got wrong.
